Homer to Denali National Park, Alaska - August 17

Too much driving today!  We set out from Homer after a big breakfast and drove north towards Anchorage.  On the way we saw another bald eagle in the distance (required binoculars) and a brown bear beside the Kenai River at Cooper’s Landing.  However the bear was not easy to see through the trees much less photograph.  Plus I was stopped in the road which was not safe.

We drove through Anchorage and headed north on highway 3 towards Fairbanks.  We stopped in Wasilla for some snacks for tomorrow but we couldn’t see Russia.  Sarah must have better eyes than we do.

We drove all afternoon and reached our cabins on the Nenana River on the edge of Denali National Park.  We picked up our tickets for tomorrow’s all day trip in the park.  Then we had a quick dinner before getting back to the room and unpacking.  Tonight we turn in early as we have a long day ahead of us tomorrow.  I should have more photos tomorrow but who knows when I’ll get them posted.
